One of the best, most powerful, and most capable gaming laptops available right now is the ASUS ROG Strix Scar 17 SE.It has excellent looks, feel, and performance, and it can handle any game, work, or productivity task you give it.

The brand-new, ultra-powerful Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 SE is unquestionably one of the greatest gaming laptops available right now. The Strix Scar 17 SE is a gaming rig built from the ground up with the intention of playing games flawlessly. The entire project is centered on that one objective, from the visual appeal to the internal parts.

The Scar 17 SE, which sells for more than $3,000/£3,000, boasts an excellent build quality, a cutting-edge Intel i9-12950HX processor, an Nvidia Geforce RTX 3080 Ti, 32GB of DDR5 RAM, and a lightning-fast FHD 360Hz 17" display. The Razer Blade 17 is almost $500 more expensive and performs only marginally better than the Scar 17 SE.

The front and sides of the display are lit by a vibrant Aura Sync RGB light bar, and the bottom bezel of the display has additional lighting. The Armoury Crate software hub lets you change the lighting on the keyboard as well as the backlighting.

The capacious keyboard includes a numpad however it is regrettably no longer of the mechanical range. Nevertheless, it is responsive and enjoyable to kind on way to slightly domed caps and a generous 2mm travel distance. The touchpad is great and definitely big though no longer as beneficiant as the only on Razer Blade 17.

The 17-inch show comes in a preference of FHD 360Hz or QHD 240Hz refresh with both sharing a 3ms reaction time. For the majority, the QHD display is the better option however for competitive games, the quicker FHD is the manner to go. It’s ridiculously easy with vibrant colorings and contrast even though at simply 75% Adobe RGB it isn’t the nice for color-accurate work, and you'd want something akin to a contender for high-quality gaming reveal to make up for that. Notably missing is a webcam that is sincerely unacceptable in 2022.

The laptop has a lot of I/O ports, most of which are on the back, which is great for organizing cables. On the left, there are two more USB ports that can be used and a headphone jack. The right is left empty, with only a special port for the ROG Keystone that can do special things like secure the laptop, unlock the encrypted shadow drive, and activate custom profiles.
The Scar 17 SE's speakers sound well and can handle a lot of volume without causing distortion. However, the audio in games does not sound as impactful due to a lack of bass, and the directionality is unclear, but it is still very usable even if you do not have access to one of the best gaming headsets.Even though it is huge, the Strix Scar is only 2.8 centimeters thick at its thickest point. The machine's massive power brick and weight of 3.1 kilograms make it difficult to transport, but that's not really its purpose.

Performance

The 16-core, 65W i9-12950HX processor makes the Strix Scar 17 SE a high performance. Additionally, Asus incorporates a lightning-fast 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD and 16GB DDR5-4800 RAM, making the RTX 3080 Ti the fastest laptop GPU according to our test results.

The Scar achieved 13,822 on the 3DMark TimeSpy test, 29,616 on the FireStrike test, and 8329 on the Port Royal ray-tracing test. A massive 20,977 was demolished by the i9 in Cinebench R5, embarrassing several of the greatest gaming PCs. In CrystalDiskMark, the SSD achieved outstanding read rates of 6990MBs. Even in ray-traced games with the highest settings, such Metro Exodus Enhanced Edition and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the Strix delivered this performance.

Most impressively, the Scar remains astonishingly quiet under load, far quieter than most other laptops I've tested.During prolonged gaming sessions, temperatures remained very manageable, averaging in the mid-80s, and the keyboard deck remained perfectly cool to the touch.
Battery life isn't great, which is to be expected given the amount of power:approximately three hours of light web and office work.Gaming will reduce that to about an hour, and you won't perform as well. The majority of the time, this beast is designed to be tethered to its power source.

Overall - should you buy it?

Simply put, the Asus ROG Strix Scar 17 SE is a fantastic RTX 3080 laptop. For what it is, it performs, feels, and looks great. Performance is top-notch for productivity tasks and gaming, more than enough to make it the center of any desk arrangement. The QHD 240Hz screen, which is superior for high-resolution games and creative jobs, is what I would pick.

The Razer Blade 17 or Alienware X17 R2, which also include webcams, are better choices if you want something more portable. But there isn't a laptop better than this one if you care about pure performance.

Pros
+Impeccable gaming performance
+Handsome gamer aesthetic & beautiful RGB
+Very cool and quiet under load

Cons
-No webcam
-Not very portable
-Weak battery life
